Matthew Goetz
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Goetz has been involved in the financial services industry since 2006. From 2006 to 2017, Mr. Goetz worked at Goldman Sachs, most recently serving as vice president within Goldman Sachs Asset Management (“GSAM”) in New York. Mr. Goetz managed and led many areas of GSAM’s investment management practice, including as Head of its U.S. Not-for-Profit Institutions business.

Mr. Goetz has worked extensively across operations, strategy, product development, client services, sales, trading, and recruiting as part of GSAM, a leading global multi-asset class and research-driven institutional investment management organization. Earlier in 2006, Mr. Goetz served as an engineer at Sargent & Lundy, where he focused on multi-disciplinary projects across structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering in the energy sector. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Illinois Department of Industrial & Enterprise Systems Engineering, and for two nonprofits in education and micro-enterprise development. Mr. Goetz began his cryptocurrency research in 2012, and started personally investing in 2014. Mr. Goetz brings knowledge as an operator of professional institutional asset management strategies and businesses to the evolving Digital Asset investment industry.

Mr. Goetz earned a B.S. in General Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-

Champaign, and an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Ari Paul
CFA, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Paul has been involved in the financial services industry since 2006. Most recently, from 2013 to 2017, Mr. Paul served as a portfolio manager and risk manager for The University of Chicago’s $7.5 billion endowment, where he managed a “tail-hedging” strategy via long volatility investments. In his role, he worked with the chief risk officer in risk management and analytics, and performed research on the characteristics of endowment investments and asset classes, including researching cryptocurrency. From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Paul was a derivatives market maker with Susquehanna International Group (SIG), and then served as a proprietary derivatives trader until 2013. Mr. Paul began investing in cryptocurrency in 2014. He has previously invested in exchange traded tokens, initial coin offerings, and other parts of the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Mr. Paul brings experience as a professional trader, portfolio manager, risk manager and capital allocator to the Digital Asset industry.

Mr. Paul graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He is a CFA charter holder.

Kunyi Li, Investment Analyst


Mr. Li began his career as a fixed income trader and analyst at the Alaska Permanent Fund, a $60 billion sovereign wealth fund. Prior to joining BlockTower, Mr. Li served as the main quantitative analyst for the $2 billion fund of hedge funds portfolio at the Investment Fund for Foundations in Boston. He received his MSc in International Finance at HEC Paris and BA in Economics and Mathematics at Dartmouth College. He has passed all 3 levels of the CFA exams and is a native Chinese speaker.
